Website Redirection

How does Website Redirection work?

With Website Redirection you can use your domain as a website address which directs visitors to any existing website on the Internet. You can direct visitors to your website or another company's.

What's the difference between Standard and Stealth Redirection?

There are two different types of Website Redirection from which to choose. You can apply either feature to any number of your domains.

Standard Redirection sends your domain visitors to any website you specify. The true address of the destination website - not your domain name - will display in the viewer's browser.

Stealth Redirection sends your domain visitors to any website you specify, just like Standard Redirection, with one difference: your domain continues to display in your visitor's browser when they reach the website and while visiting any page in that website.

Can I use Meta Tags with Stealth Redirection?

As part of the Stealth Redirection feature, you can enter Title, Keyword and Description meta tags for your Stealth site. After you've submitted your website to a search engine, the search engine may use this information to index and describe your site.

Can visitors enter subdirectories after my domain?

Yes, this allows visitors to enter file names or subdirectories following your domain and be redirected to that subsection of your destination website.

Using this service you can have your files or subdirectories displayed in the address bar as visitors browse your stealthed pages.

Then create the links in your website to use either "_TOP" or "_NEW" targets as shown below:

<A HREF="http://www.yourdomain.com/file.html" TARGET="_top">Your Link</A>

The browser will reset the window with this new location.

What is the "Pass Subdirectories" option?

This feature lets you decide how you would like file path information entered after your domain to be handled by our network.

Off
If you choose not to use "Pass Subdirectories", file names or subdirectories entered after your domain will be ignored. Visitors will be directed straight to the destination website you specify. For example:

    For the domain: my-example.com
    Destination address set: http://www.freehost4you.com/user
    Visitor enters: http://www.my-example.com/file2.html
    Visitor ONLY redirected to: http://www.freehost4you.com/user
    Visitor NOT redirected to: http://www.freehost4you.com/user/file2.html

On
If you choose to use "Pass Subdirectories", then file names or subdirectories entered after your domain will be used to access files and subdirectories on your destination site. For example:

    For the domain: my-example.com
    Destination address set: http://www.freehost4you.com/user
    Visitor enters: http://www.my-example.com/file2.html
    Redirected to: http://www.freehost4you.com/user/file2.html

Which option should I choose?

If you chose to use this feature, visitors who enter inaccurate information following your domain name will receive an error message instead of being redirected to any part of your website. If visitors enter subdirectories and filenames after your domain, they will only be redirected if they have entered this information exactly.

If you chose not to use this feature, your visitors will not be able to target specific files within your site. However, visitors will always arrive at your destination website - no matter what text they enter following your domain and even if they make mistakes.
